Budget Hearing: Taxpayers Not Welcome?
(Photo from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel)
The largest state budget in history - and the meeting is scheduled so working citizens can’t go to it!

At first they were going to schedule it for Miller Park on a Saturday (http://www.jsonline.com/news/wisconsin/40444607.html):

“Leaders of the 16-member Joint Finance Committee have tentatively scheduled what may be the committee’s first ever Saturday hearing so Milwaukee-area residents who want to comment on the governor’s spending plan don’t have to take off work to do so, Capitol officials said.”

but now they realized this budget is so controversial they don’t want working citizens to comment on it (http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/news/40805387.html). They scheduled their hearing for Wednesday from 10 AM to 4 PM. Can’t get off work for three hours to sit in line to share your view on the state budget? Too bad.

Upset about being denied the right to comment on the budget? We’re sending a petition to the Joint Finance Committee to insist that all Wisconsinites, not just those who don’t have work responsibilities from providing input on the 2009 state budget. Sign our petition today!
